I didn't even think about the way women were portrayed when Phelps controlled a show. While Victor will probably be seen even more than he is now (not sure how that could happen), women like Nikki and Sharon are going to written terribly, more so than they are now.
I don't see how the writing for Sharon could get worse. (She's fecking Victor, fecked the guy who stole her child, faked her death, turned into a klepto, and basically is just an all around hot mess. The only thing left JFP could do is kill her off.) I've seen JFP's handy work especially at GH.

Exactly!

I have a feeling a lot of people complaining about Phelps, have not sit and watched MAB's crap. The show is overrun with misogyny. A man got raped, and he was considered a dead beat dad because he felt he couldn't raise it. Ashley was tortured and didn't know she lost the baby. The women are either spineless sluts or screaming shrews. Look at Sharon. Misogyny is already here.

Crazy thought-- do you think Sony is bringing in people on both soaps they have their hands in -- Days and Y & R--so that these soaps will fail and after they are cancelled, Sony can say that they did everything they could but it just didn't work?
Tab I honestly believe were in the midst of a process of elimination here I could be wrong as two left shoes but at this stage in the game can't see it any other way think about how (CORPORATES) allowed in our face dismissive writers to re-do these shows core canvas yea examples like Julie HELL Carruthers and Chuck the FUCK Pratt to write their version of "contemporary" storytelling (Pratt style was prime time not daytime) Now check out Sony doing the same as those other corporate owners did with NBC & ABC soaps which means to me completely alienate the Older/Longtime viewers and bring on the Young/New viewer however if there demographic doesn't sustain "Well We Tried"...HA! Shame on them cause one thing about long time serious soap viewers we see shady shit coming in droves long before you try & sell it to us.

But like that old cliché saying careful what you wish for and goodness knows I wished that wretched written MAB out more than I can count and got what wanted I mean close to it  so one gotta deal with it.

I'll never understand why the same hacks keep on getting hired but nobody has picked up Wendy Riche.

WINS (5): (1995-1997, 1999 & 2000; Outstanding Drama Series; General Hospital)
In addition to accolades, she successfully reigned over one of the most extraordinarily enjoyable periods in General Hospital history.

It's safe to say that the past dozen years, which have neatly coincided with Jill Farren Phelps' dictatorship have been the antithesis of what the show was from 1992-1998. Oh, and very mob-centric.

Thank you JCP.

This sucks, and if they get rid of my Tucker then I am done with this show and won't care what she does to it.

MAB hates older woman too. The Y&R ones anyway.
I don't agree with that. I don't think she knows how to properly use them and in the case of MTS there's salary/ego issues, but I don't think she hates them.

Look at her amazing debut(if only she'd kept it up). The show revolved completely around Jeanne Cooper's Katherine and Marge, Ashley was brought back along with Nina and a slew of old vets for Katherine's funeral, and Jill was front and centre during Katherine's disapearance and the Phillip revelation.

JFP would never have brought back the likes of Dina Mergeron.

JFP doesn't hate all older women. Viki on OLTL came back to life and had renewed love interests and a better wardrobe under her. Nora lost her brain but gained an arch rival and was front and center.

She does, however, hate the good girl it seems. Rebecca Herbst was fired then rehired after fan outcry during her GH run. Maureen Bauer on GL. Frankie Frame on AW. Emily and Georgie were killed off on GH. Cassie fired on OLTL while on maternity leave. Genie Francis quits.

GH had a fantastic group of young characters that were interesting and each had tons of potential and multiple ties to the show and JFP/Guza chose to decimate the entire group in less than a year (Emily, Cooper, Georgie, Maxie, Logan, Spinelli, Lulu, Dillon). Only Lulu and Maxie and Spinelli remained. The whole group was compelling and could have been driving stories right now. This show needs characters in that 20 age range badly, but we aren't invested in who they bring on.

I think her shows always look good, and she often goes for the drama, but it is like beautiful wrapping paper with glitter all over it. It's pretty to look at, but you still want the gift underneath. But with JFP (since GL), the pretty paper is covering an empty box.

Just to clarify I was using MAB to represent the writing team HS, SH & Maria.

I don't think Maria personally hates older women but she seems to be more interested in the ones from other shows. She used the Y&R older women at first but then she stopped. Micheal Learned wasn't needed to sub for JC. Kay had just suffered a heart attack and no one would've thought anything of her going for treatment, or on vacation with Murphy. I think Nina is brought back to prop Ronan- who she seems to adore for some reason. (Nina also goes w/Christine Bell) Why is Anita on this show? And Cane needs a mom? I don't think so. Both Jill and Ashley should've been given some story or with business, children and or lovers instead.

Now HS and SH , I think they hate older , younger, all women- from anywhere, regardless. LOL

THIS is the absolute truth. Mark my words. There will be a serial killer storyline in which several supporting characters and at least one major, well loved, character will die violent deaths. They will all be women. This is the way JFP guides her writers. It's been her calling card on three shows. Why would she change it now? Quite honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she killed off Kay.

And for the person who asked earlier, Nadine's death at the hands of the cross-dressing killer on GL was done after JFP left the show. Legend has it that the drag queen was actually a parody of JFP and her "show killing" style. So while we can't blame Nadine's death directly on her, she did play a role. Sort of... :)

I would love to know the completely honest, nothing held back feelings Jacklyn Zeman, Leslie Charleson, Genie Francis, and Kristina Wagner have to say about Phelps.

These four women literally carried storylines on General Hospital in the 1990's. Flash forward to 2001 when Phelps' producing reign began and these ladies couldn't even be considered supporting players anymore (if they were still employed by ABC for that matter).

Seems like Nancy Lee Grahn and Tamara Braun are the only two women that received nearly as much screen time as Maurice Benard, Anthony Geary, Steve Burton and Ingo Rademacher post-2001.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nancy on Young and the Restless if General Hospital bites the dust this winter.

And a whole truckload of Santa Barbara faves of Phelps like A Martinez. Didn't he name one of his children after Jill?
